The requirements for your prove-up, or the final step in a divorce when a judge confirms that all legal requirements have been met, can be completed by affidavits your attorney can file with your agreed upon Allocation Judgment and MSA. However, note that the judge does have the right to require an in-person court appearance.​​
Do I have to take a parenting class?
Yes, if you have minor children together. In Illinois, divorcing parents with minor children are required to take a parenting education class. In Kane County, the parenting class can be taken after the case is filed, as the case number is needed to register.

Total initial court costs for a Dissolution with Children (DC) are $783 in Kane County which includes the filing fees for the Petition for Dissolution of Marriage, an Appearance (on behalf of the Respondent), and the cost for KiDs1st Program for both parents. For a Dissolution without Children (DN), court costs are $603.
