JOE OBERWEIS
JOE'S STORY
After personally experiencing divorce with five young children (ages 2 to 13 at the time) and years of ensuing litigation, I want to help others avoid what I’ve been through. Litigation is an extremely costly process, and I don’t just mean financially – it drains your time, energy, and mental well-being. Effective mediation keeps you out of the courtroom.
During mediation, my role is to neutrally help each side work through the negotiation. I help you frame your decisions, analyze your options, and find agreement whenever possible. I specialize in complex cases and have the aptitude and experience to work through complicated financial matters.
Negotiation has been a centerpiece of my career. I've observed the many approaches people take in negotiations in countless situations and with widely varied dynamics. In addition, I studied negotiations during my time at Kellogg, providing an academic foundation to the process.
